Shake-up at Virgin Media
Kate Magee , PR Week UK, Wednesday, 18 February 2009, 5:23pm,
Virgin Media is putting its regional PR account out to pitch as it shakes up its internal comms teams.
The company has been in talks with several agencies but has not drawn up a shortlist. The move could see it sever its year-long relationship with Leeds-based Ptarmigan.
The expanded brief will also include both regional and potentially national media work on a range of new products and services.
The in-house Virgin Mobile and Virgin Media teams will now operate as one team under head of corporate and consumer PR Michelle Gordon.
‘Ptarmigan has done a great job of building on our regional media programme,’ said Gordon. ‘But the integration of the PR teams has provided us with an opportunity to review our agency support across our full product range'.
She said Virgin Media’s other retained agencies would not be affected.
