Timescale October-December 2008
Budget c. £5,000
Bristol’s Big Give was a radio fundraising initiative launch by Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Appeal to raise funds for Bristol Children’s Hospital.
Objectives
To raise awareness of the campaign in Bristol and generate excitement
To encourage people to tune into GWR Bristol and donate.
Strategy and plan
Spirit PR advised on the best radio station to approach and brought GWR on board as media partner for the event.
Case studies giving an insight into all aspects of life in the hospital were sourced.
To generate excitement, Spirit PR set up a hospital radio broadcast with GWR, which was also broadcast online.
Measurement and evaluation
Nine full pages of coverage were received in the Bristol Evening Post and Western Daily Press and the campaign was also covered on ITV West news, the third sector, media and online press.
In all, Bristol’s Big Give reached 750,000 people across Bristol and the region.
Results
Bristol’s Big Give is expected to raise more than £80,000, despite the difficult economic climate. This includes more than 270 people who signed up to become regular donors, raising further long-term funds for the charity.
