Scotland picks six for agency roster

Consolidated PR has come out top in confidential rankings drawn up by the Scottish Government and seen by PRWeek.
The scores were compiled by the Scottish Government as part of the process for deciding on its new PR roster, which was announced this week.
Consolidated was awarded a score of 91.19 while Golley Slater ranked second with a score of 87.78. Stripe Communications, Weber Shandwick, Barkers and The Big Partnership scored 84.87, 83.50, 82.69 and 81 respectively.
The rankings considered criteria such as understanding of the market, value for money and past performance.
The Government is increasing the number of agencies on the roster from four to six. The new six-strong roster sees Barkers, The Big Partnership and Consolidated PR retained. Golley Slater, The Leith Agency and Weber Shandwick have also won places on the roster, while Smarts has lost its place.
When the tender was announced earlier this year (PRWeek, 21 February), it was described by one agency chief as 'one of the most exciting opportunities for PR consultancies in what is the biggest pitch in Scottish marketing'.
The Government has also increased the number of organisations that can use it. The user group now includes all government agencies, non-departmental public bodies and health boards.
The previous list was used by organisations including the Scottish Government and Parliament, VisitScotland and Health Scotland. Another 24 joined the list in September.
'Hardly any of the new organisations have used PR but may consider doing so now they have access to the list,' said Scottish Government deputy director of marketing and new media Roger Williams.
The new roster will be used for the next four years. The total estimated value of the framework is more than £40m including PR, direct marketing and digital.
