The Carbon Trust hands brief to TLG
David Singleton, PR Week UK, Friday, 28 November 2008, 12:00am,
The Carbon Trust has overhauled its public affairs arrangements, awarding a new brief to TLG.
Malcolm Gooderham's agency takes over from Weber Shandwick and Fishburn Hedges, which previously shared the account. Before this week's switch, The Carbon Trust used Weber Shandwick for public affairs and Fishburn Hedges for stakeholder relations.
Under the new arrangements, TLG, recently crowned New Agency of the Year at the 2008 PRWeek Awards, will be the lead agency on a three-strong roster. The other two places have been given to Edelman and a joint team comprising consultants from Lexington Communications and Freud Communications. Lexington and Freud pitched jointly, not for the first time this year.
Marcus Rand, group head of comms at The Carbon Trust, said: 'We wanted to streamline and deliver improved cost efficiencies in our work.'
TLG will lead the account for the next 12 months while Edelman and Lexington/Freud are expected to be called up on an ad-hoc basis.
TLG will communicate the low carbon message to both stakeholders and members of the public. The Carbon Trust is keen to persuade people that cutting carbon emissions is not as expensive or as difficult as they may think.
The win continues a good run for TLG, previously called The Ledbury Group. The agency was set up last year and stole Bell Pottinger Public Affairs' Asda account within months.
