The Week in Lobbying

PR Week UK, Friday, 14 November 2008, 12:00am,

The Met Office has taken on Cavendish Communications to provide public affairs support following a pitch process in which only APPC members were invited to take part. The win is a boost for Cavendish, headed by MD Alex Challenor, which earlier this year lost a key retainer with the John Lewis group to Luther Pendragon (PRWeek, 28 March).

Bell Pottinger Public Affairs has lost its HSBC account after seven years. The bank has instead turned to Burson-Marsteller. PRWeek revealed the account had gone out to pitch earlier this year (PRWeek, 13 June).

BSkyB has hired Bell Pottinger Public Affairs senior consultant Nina Howe as public policy manager.

Jaguar Land Rover has appointed Luke Herbert as head of UK government affairs. He was previously public policy manager at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Morgan Allen Moore is poised to leave the APPC. Agency director Richard Moore said: 'Our membership of the APPC expired at the end of June and we chose not to renew for a whole host of reasons.' Association chair Robbie MacDuff said discussions with the agency were ongoing.
