Flack: PRWeek Awards 2008
PR Week UK, Friday, 24 October 2008, 12:00am,
- Hearty congrats to all of the winners at this week's PRWeek Awards 2008. Amazingly, Blue Rubicon scooped the best agency award for a third year in a row, narrowly beating Freud Communications. Freud sources tell Flack that had the agency won, director Oli Wheeler would have made a 'controversial' acceptance speech. Maybe next year, Oli?...
- Another winner was Fenland Council's kilted David Hamilton, who became Young PR Professional of the Year. When Hamilton collected his award, he was surprised to find compere Bill Bailey attempting to see if those kilt rumours were true...
- As for the rowdiest table award, Flack hereby chooses Weber Shandwick. One particularly, er, boisterous PRO rose to her feet every time the agency was mentioned. Names on a postcard please...
- To the dancefloor, where the Diageo team were strutting their stuff, while political types such as PRWeek columnists Alex Hilton, Tara Hamilton-Miller, and fun-loving Insight Public Affairs boss John Lehal also stayed the distance...
- Finally, as PRWeek went to press there were no reports of misplaced awards like last year. Avid readers will recall that Markettiers4dc's 'stolen' award popped up with a Facebook page and ransom. However, Flack's sleuths finally wheedled a boozy confession out of the culprits: Unity, who won this year's Not-for-Profit Award for a campaign based in a prison ... fitting.
