- Glasgow 2014, the organising company for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, has appointed a communications director. Gordon Arthur was formerly corporate affairs director at Standard Life and has run his own consultancy since 2006.
- Gordon Brown has hired a new speechwriter to replace Beth Russell, who quit in June. Tim Kiddell has taken up the post from his role leading the cross-government delivery unit for the Health, Work and Wellbeing Strategy.
- Edencancan has been hired to promote a website backed by Bebo founder Michael Birch. Wordia.com aims to become the world's largest free dictionary, and EdenCancan will handle the website's strategic comms activity.
- Redleaf Communications has bolstered its restaurant portfolio with its latest appointment to handle PR for Italy's largest pizza company, Rossopomodoro.
- Capita Group has taken on Ridgemount PR to handle the consumer launch of a new gas safety brand.
- Frank PR has won a brief with BBC Worldwide to develop a campaign for The Tweenies to celebrate its tenth anniversary next year.
- Student accommodation firm Unite has appointed Consolidated PR to handle its consumer PR.
- EMI has awarded Hudson PR a brief to promote its NOW 25 Years CD.
