Pitch update
Campaign, Friday, 22 August 2008, 12:00am,
There's an audible sigh of relief emanating from Greater London House.
Yes, it seems Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R has been granted something of a reprieve with news that Bacardi has called off its global pitch. It transpires the company has decided to wait for its new chief executive, Seamus McBride, to arrive before it proceeds any further with the £100 million review. Leo Burnett, McCann Erickson and Saatchi & Saatchi had been lined up against the incumbent.
There's a comms planning brief for a shoe brand doing the rounds. We can't work out which brand for sure, but sources are tipping Converse.
Campaign regularly receives strange press releases, but a recent one from Twinings stands out. A result on its long-running pitch perhaps? No chance. Instead, it's e-mailing us to let us know that there's no result on its pitch, but hopes to have one by the end of the month. WCRS, Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO and Adam & Eve are the exasperated agencies competing for the business.
Boots' media review is moving ahead. Starcom, OMD UK and Vizeum will pitch in the week commencing 8 September. Now that's probably ruined a few summer holidays.
And finally ... it seems not-so-Innocent is back in the mood for a pitch. It's a great brand to work with, but its track record with agencies and pitches make it sound like very hard work indeed.
