Lane will be responsible for increasing the company's market position by pursuing opportunities in new markets, identifying profitable online verticals, and bringing on board big brands to beef up the company's portfolio.
Lane will also develop a close relationship with The Search Works' newly formed European team, to share leads and exchange opportunities.
The Search Works interim managing director Chris Simpson said: "We're confident that Nick's arrival will mark the expansion of our new business pipeline and increase in pitch conversion."
Lane's hire follows the departures of two senior directors from The Search Works. Cristina Sagarduy and Dean Gardner were recruited, from The Search Works, by Omnicom Media Group this week to ramp up the agency's search marketing activities.
