Walker wins new lottery business

Walker Media has picked up the new Health Lottery media planning and buying account.

The agency beat MindShare and ZenithOptimedia to the business, with PHD understood to have pulled out in the early stages.

Health Lottery plans to launch this year and will donate money to NHS local services. It has allocated £8m for its media budget until the end of the year. Its media budget for next year is not known.

It aims to launch a television show, but broadcast sales sources said it would be difficult to operate in competition with the National Lotteries. It does not have a licence granted to run the lottery yet.

One agency source said: "From a media perspective, it would need to buy a campaign but would need the flexibility to cancel it all."

Pitches were handled by the AAR.

Last week, it emerged that Delaney Lund Knox Warren & Partners was on track to pick up Health Lottery's creative account, after VCCP won and lost it in a matter of days.
