The debut issue of the title, which has been in existence in the US for the past 15 years, will arrive on news-stands during the first half of 2009.
It will be edited by David Rowan, current editor of The Jewish Chronicle and regular contributor to The Times. Jamie Jouning has been appointed publisher, after being associate publisher of GQ since 2003. Jamie Bill, publishing director of GQ, will oversee both titles as publishing director.
Wired is also due to launch in Italy by March 2009. The start-ups will represent the first overseas editions of the titles since Condé Nast acquired the magazine in 1998 from co-founders, Louis Rossetto and Jane Metcalfe.
The magazine aims to deliver insight into the future of business, science, entertainment, education, culture and politics - highlighting the role technology plays in the world.
Wired magazine and Wired.com reach more than 12 million readers per month in the US.
