FROM OUR READERS: Police comms are already up to speed
PR Week UK, Thursday, 26 June 2008, 6:00am,
It is disappointing that a publication promoting the best in public relations is out of touch with activity in police communications (News, 20 June).
The details within Louise Casey's report do not come as a surprise to the hundreds of communication professionals working within the police service. We have been working at senior levels to develop community engagement, focus services on local requirements and promote communication with neighbourhood teams.
But this does appear to be something of a surprise to Alex Aiken. At Greater Manchester Police, the strategic development of communications has been, and remains, at the forefront of the fight against crime.
Amanda Coleman, acting corporate comms director, Greater Manchester Police.
