Public Affairs: Met Office seeks APPC-only shop
PR Week UK, Friday, 11 April 2008, 12:00am,
The Met Office has said it sees membership of the Association of Professional Political Consultants (APPC) as 'a guarantor of the level of quality we require'.
Last week, it emerged that the Met Office has issued a tender notice for a public affairs agency and has specified that it is 'essential' that whichever consultancy bags the contract must be a member of the APPC.
It comes after PRWeek revealed that a consortium of London housing associations appointed Precise Public Affairs after an APPC-only pitch (PRWeek, 21 March).
The two developments are a boost for the APPC as it prepares to elect a new chair (PRWeek, 4 April).
