There are 53 people in the Dunnhumby Retail Media team, including a sales team of 35. We develop, plan, manage and sell retail media in and around Tesco stores.
- Who does what?
The team is led by Tim Cornell and Graham Thomas, group head of communications and media. Our marketing team includes Joel Hopwood, Ben Taylor, Mike Butler, Kate Fitzgerald, Rufus Evison and Kirsty Largent, and our operations team includes Priti Raval, Bronwyn Henry, Lee Ruddle, Clare Wodehouse and Ben Duke. Some of the key people in our sales team are Guy Chiswick (sales director), Paul Hackwell, Phil Laybourne, Will Lowe, Tom Flaye, Andy Jensen, Aidan Lundy, Jo Birt, Emily Skinner, Liz Tebb, Rob Marsham, Amy O'Leary, Forbes Campbell, Chris Stokes, Jamie Edington, Will Sach, Sophia Brown and Lisa Luxford.
- Who is the biggest character and why?
It's a close call between Rob Marsham, who looks and sounds like Prince Charles and dresses up in army gear at weekends, and Rufus Evison, who speaks in binary and hasn't watched television since 1986.
- What is your office atmosphere like?
The usual noise is the sound of highly talented people engaging in all sorts of debates and discussions with colleagues and clients. It can vary from serious and studious on a Monday morning, to a babble of sales calls and closing on deadline day.
- What stands you apart from the rest of the industry?
We work for a globally respected company on behalf of Tesco, one of the world's most successful retailers. We all believe that we are genuinely helping to create a new type of integrated retail media offering, and now that we've tasted success turning Tesco Screens around, we're busy revolutionising in-store media too.
- What does it take to get a job in your team?
Data literacy and endless curiosity are a good start. Like any business, we depend on our commercial team to be able to handle objections and focus on helping our clients win. You need to be unafraid of doing something for the first time - and convincing clients to do the same.
- How are staff encouraged to hit targets?
We have a generous bonus scheme, a fantastic Treat Yourself programme, and an in-house masseuse and pool table. Apart from that, our year-on-year growth rate of 50%-plus, and the opportunities that provides, are the greatest motivators.
- Where do you all let your hair down?
We have a thriving social committee that arranges balls, poker nights, DJ parties and more, but we can most often be found on a Friday at the North Star in swinging Ealing from 4.02pm. Did I mention we finish at 4pm on a Friday?
