The brand and brewing division of Greene King has lured Sue
Thomas-Taylor, marketing director of high street brands at Whitbread, to
be its marketing director.
Thomas-Taylor will oversee a budget of £6.3m, and the marketing of
1700 pubs and four brands - Greene King IPA, Abbot Ale, Ruddles and Old
Speckled Hen.
Greene King's agencies, McCann-Erickson, MediaCom and FutureBrand will
come under Thomas-Taylor's remit, but it is not known whether she will
review these arrangements.
Thomas-Taylor replaces Adam Collett, who moved a year ago to the role of
marketing director for Greene King Pub Company, the group's managed pubs
estate. In the meantime, brands marketing has been overseen by Stuart
Hawthorn, sales director for the takehome division.
Prior to joining Whitbread, Thomas-Taylor held a number of retail
marketing positions at Wolverhampton & Dudley; Marston, Thompson &
Evershed; and Bass.
Her resignation from Whitbread is the latest in a series of senior
marketing departures from the company.
