Voluntary Sector: Children's charity beefs up comms

PR Week UK, Friday, 08 February 2008, 12:00am,

Disabled children's charity Whizz-Kidz is boosting its communications team as it sets its sights on national and consumer press coverage.

The charity has hired Rob Dyson, formerly press and PR officer at cerebral palsy charity Scope, as PR manager. He will be responsible for creating a more issues-led media output, including working closely with the head of policy to create more integrated campaigns between the campaigning and media teams.

Dyson replaces Fiona Craig, who is now working in PR recruitment.

He will be joined by a yet to be appointed PR officer - a newly created role for which the charity is currently in the final stages of recruitment.

'We want to create debate in the media,' said director of comms Jill Cochrane. 'We generate a huge amount of regional press coverage, but this year we want to build our credibility in the national and consumer press.'
