Indy chief Grote to leave company
John Reynolds, Media Week, Monday, 04 February 2008, 3:40pm,
LONDON - Terry Grote, the managing director of The Independent and Independent on Sunday, is leaving after nearly 10 years with the company.
Grote is leaving to take early retirement, having spent 30 years working across the newspaper industry. The newspaper group said a replacement would be announced in due course.
Grote is the latest high-profile departure from Independent News & Media following that of David Greene, The Independent's circulation and marketing director, who departed in December last year. He has also yet to be replaced.
The editor of the Independent on Sunday, Tristan Davis, left the company in the same month.
Grote began his career as a sports reporter in regional press before joining newspaper group Capital Newspapers, which was later acquired by Independent News & Media.
He was chief executive of Independent News & Media's regional newspaper group in the UK before moving across to work on its national titles.
