Free satellite TV venture seeking ‘clever’ agency

A soon-to-arrive free satellite TV joint venture backed by the BBC and ITV is seeking an agency to provide consumer and corporate PR.
Freesat wants an agency in place for its launch in spring 2008. The company will offer HD digital TV for a one-off payment, targeting the 27 per cent of the population out of digital terrestrial coverage.
Freesat MD Emma Scott said the firm expects fees to be between £6,000 and £8,000 per month, and that it is looking to receive credentials by 30 October. Four agencies will be invited to pitch, with a view to starting work in early December for an initial six-month contract.
Scott added: ‘We want to make sure that the agency is quite innovative and clever in the way it does things. We want it to make the most out of the budget – to work hard and to come up with interesting quirky ideas.’
Scott, who launched Freeview, added that the company is launching into a ‘busy’ marketplace and the agency it chooses will have to work hard to build brand awareness.
