Letter - Farrow's graduate views are misplaced

Perhaps offering 'nominal' pay gets you a nominal response. Many graduates leave university with huge debts. The ones that can afford to take no or nominal pay have well-off parents; the rest can't afford to.

In Socrates' day people criticised students for laziness. Now Gary Farrow criticises their low energy. In the 1950s cynics mocked the study of politics, business and many now widely accepted subjects. In 2007 Gary mocks 'meedja studies'.

Gary clearly has energy and talent but sadly seems to believe that he and his generation were the last to have these qualities. Slagging off young people and degrees seems an odd way to recruit new blood!
