The Week: Advertising News - Cartoon creators strike deal
Campaign, Friday, 31 August 2007, 12:00am,
Viacom has agreed to give the creators of South Park a 50 per cent share of any digital advertising revenues earned when the show's content is aired on the internet and mobile phones. Matt Stone and Trey Parker are likely to earn around $75 million (£37.4 million) from ad revenues alone as part of a new deal for a three-year extension of the TV series to 2011. There will also be a new website, southparkstudios.com, to host new South Park content.
