Media buyer meets ABPI code
PR Week UK, Wednesday, 29 August 2007, 6:00pm,
The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) has awarded membership to a media-buying agency for the first time.
The decision to allow Bartlett Davis Communications to become an affiliate member could pave the way for healthcare PR agencies to also sign up.
At present ABPI membership is dominated by UK companies producing prescription medicines.
Bartlett Davis joint managing partner Julie Bartlett said: ‘The remit of the media buyer has widened.
‘We felt we should align our operating procedures with the organising body.’
The ABPI tightened up the rules that cover promotional aids, hospitality, travel and accommodation for health professionals on 1 January 2006.
