Lastminute.com’s media agency, Walker Media, has resigned the
account just five months after it was hired to handle the business.
A statement from agency managing partner, Christine Walker, read:
’Walker Media today served notice of termination on lastminute.com’.
Walker declined to comment further on the decision. The agency will
continue to handle the account until its notice period expires in
March.
Lastminute’s joint founder, Martha Lane Fox, responded: ’Walker has done
a great job, but it didn’t have a good international network and that’s
one of the prime reasons the agreement didn’t work out.’
She said the company was now looking for a new international media
partner, but added that there were no formal pitches at the moment.
Walker Media’s decision follows news earlier this month that Lastminute
was talking to creative agencies about its advertising account,
currently handled by M&C Saatchi, which owns half of Walker Media
(Marketing, December 2).
Lane Fox denied the company was about to sever its relationship with
M&C.
