Patrick Ramage, global whale program manager of IFAW, and his son Henry will be traveling to fifteen cities, including Boston, New York, and Des Moines, in a Cessna 402 airplane. Upon reaching a destination, they will collect anti-whaling letters from students and deliver them to the International Whaling Commission (IWC) 2007 meeting in Anchorage, AK, which takes place throughout May.
The organization hired WestGlen Communications to provide support for the satellite media tour (SMT), radio media tour (RMT), media relations, and webcast; Dewey Square Group to lobby local city councils to pass anti-whaling resolutions; and Peppercom will work with online social media relations initiatives and event coordination.
Ramage and his son will be blogging and podcasting from the plane, according to Jennifer Ferguson-Mitchell, communications manager at IFAW. A Peppercom rep will be traveling with the duo to handle media opportunities and event logistics.
Ferguson-Mitchell added that the organization hoped that actor Pierce Brosnan, its global whale spokesperson, would be able to greet the plane as it landed in Los Angeles.
