Compass Group hires Pain as first board level marketer

Compass Group UK & Ireland, the world's largest contract caterer, has appointed the former KFC marketer John Pain as its first board level marketing director.
Pain, who joins the company in April, was previously vice president, marketing KFC Asia Pacific and a member of the board of KFC Japan. Prior to this, Pain held the position of vice president of food for Taco Bell and marketing director for Yum! Brands in the Middle East and North Africa.
Before joining Yum! Brands, Pain worked as marketing director for Pepsico Restaurants and also Fox's Biscuits.
Compass Group managing director Ian El-Mokadem said: ‘This new role highlights out commitment to remain the most customer-focused player in the catering and support services business.
In recent years, the company has been forced to deal with criticism of its school dinners contracts following Jamie Oliver's campaign to improve the lunches of school children.
