Rawlins Wickens Partners are joining forces to launch an international
venture, Globespan, on July 1.
Loyalty launch
European Passenger Services is seeing pitches to decide the name and
identity for Eurostar’s loyalty scheme, which is due to launch in
September. Carlson and Start are shortlisted in the UK, but the service
provider is also seeing agencies in Paris and Brussels.
Strawberry fares
Le Shuttle is targeting travel agents with packs of freeze-dried ‘space-
age’ strawberries to coincide with the start of Wimbledon. The promotion
is designed to reflect Le Shuttle’s space-mission TV campaign and to
remind travel agents of Le Shuttle’s new strategy.
Brewers’ scoop
The Federation Brewery, whose products include Keoghans Ale, has
appointed the Media Brokerage to promote its portfolio to public and
trade audiences.
Tactical trains
The Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC) has appointed
Carlson to create and manage promotional activity for the network card.
Distant Cozens
Sales-promotion agency Tequila has parted company with new business
director Jackie Cozens. Managing director Jane Asscher has taken over
the role while the company ‘considers its options’.
Child’s play
The Independent Television Commission has published research suggesting
that children are rarely misled or confused by toy advertising. The ITC
says children have higher levels of advertising literacy than parents.
Lager love
Tennent’s Lager is rolling out new ads for TV titled ‘Romeo and JulieT’
by the Leith Agency. The ads were originally entitled Kama SuTra but the
caption was banned by the Broadcast Advertising Clearance Centre.
Summer Taboo
Taboo is airing new TV ads this summer, with a pounds 600,000 campaign
through Delaney Fletcher Bozell. The ads will target 18- to 35-year-old
women and use the strapline, ‘All the way from wherever you want’.
Business role
Robert Schrijver has been appointed vice-chairman of global business
development at marketing and communications firm Siegal & Gale.
Rowenta on TV
Rowenta is launching a pounds 750,000 national TV campaign from August
1. The ads were designed by Foote Cone Belding.
Correction
Mercury Communications has been in the data-services market since 1984,
not 1994 as reported in a news story in last week’s Marketing.
