CORPORATE The future of online travel company Opodo's comms team is hanging in the balance pending a consultation exercise on the business' future. Head of comms Gail Sinden confirmed: ‘The consultation will affect staff in the London office.'
AGENCY Freud Communications has recruited Sarah Myler - daughter of newly-appointed News of The World editor Colin Myler - as a senior account director in its consumer team. Until recently, Myler worked at Mark Bolland & Associates, where she has been replaced by account manager Emma Riley.
CONSUMER New Era Cap Europe - the UK-headquartered division of the US headwear brand - has taken its first retained UK agency after a competitive pitch. Radiator PR saw off competition from Shine Communications and Chase PR.
TRADE GlaxoSmithKline is using Cirkle to handle category trade media relations for Ribena, Horlicks and Lucozade. The agency will work with Blue Rubicon, which handles brand trade media. Parts of both briefs were previously handled by The B2B Consultancy (PRWeek, 9 Feb).
AGENCY Naomi Lewis has joined KBC PR & Marketing as account director, in charge of the agency's founding client Visit Florida. Lewis was previously PR manager for Virgin Holidays, which she left in November after more than eight years.
CONSUMER German domestic appliance manufacturer Miele has brought in Oxford-based Loud Group. The appointment follows a pitch (PRWeek, 12 Jan).
