CIPR - best practice in vermin control
PR Week UK, Friday, 19 January 2007, 12:00am,
Since a recent visit to the CIPR's St James's Square HQ to interview 2007 president Lionel Zetter (Profile, p17), we have learned that its building is festooned with anti-rodent devices.
Clearly, Diary had a duty to enquire what priority Zetter is ceding to anti- rodent initiatives during his 12 months in charge.
The institute's PR and marketing officer Nina Croad tells us that boxes of food on the floor are checked regularly by an external company to monitor any potential mouse or rat presence. She goes on to assure us that the CIPR is adopting 'best practice' methods in respect of rodent control and that - to the trade body's knowledge - it does not have, and has never had, a problem with rats.
She announces: 'Having these boxes is best practice with a building of this age in terms of health and safety. They are tucked away so they are not intrusive.'
Fine, but that won't stop us keeping an eye out next time we pop in, though.
