Jeff Lucas, group marketing director of European Telecom, the UK’s
biggest mobile phone distributors, has left the company to pursue other
interests.
He will be replaced by managing director John McFarnon who takes on the
new role of group sales and marketing director.
McFarnon said the departure gives the company an opportunity to
co-ordinate group sales and marketing under one director.
European Telecom, which launched in 1990, supplies phones and
accessories made by the major manufacturers to retailers including
Carphone Warehouse and The Link. The company also makes its own
accessories under the brand TAG.
Lucas was employed by the company for eight years and was responsible
most recently for a strategic alliance between European Telecom, Cellnet
and Match of The Day magazine to produce a Football Phone Kit.
The pre-pay phone service, endorsed by football manager Ruud Gullitt,
sends users text messages with latest news on their team.
