iSporty TV to launch in January

Media Week, Friday, 15 December 2006, 2:02pm,

An online TV sports channel and social network will launch on 11 January following a promising spell as a test site.

iSporty TV will include news on local, national and international clubs and events as well as integrated features with sites including Google maps, You Tube, Blinkx, Yahoo and iTunes.
The first online TV sports channel, www.isporty.com, which has been operating as a test site at www.tiredandtested.com, will feature footage of anything from Premiership press conferences to reports on the progress of community sports teams.
Users will be invited to upload films about their own clubs or successes to share with other sports fans.
The team behind iSporty TV includes Chris Ward, who was integral to the media campaign that launched Friends Reunited, and Mike Lee, who worked on London's 2012 Olympic bid.
Last week it was announced that David Maher-Roberts, head of online at Future, was leaving the magazine publisher to join isporty.com as director of new media. England assistant manager Terry Venables and Sky Media's digital sports agency, Aura Sports, also support the venture.
The site creators are now looking for sports fans to step up as presenters and are appealing for applicants to send in their show reels.
