Insiders' guide - Kinetic Worldwide (Manchester office),

Media Week, Media Week, Tuesday, 12 December 2006, 12:00am,

Number of people in your team?

Eight.

Who does what?

As an outdoor media agency, our primary role is to work alongside clients (mostly media agencies) developing, planning, buying and adding value to their out-of-home campaigns. Three senior account managers - Katherine Grimer, Richard Leary, Paul Sambrook - have overall account management and planning responsibilities. Laura Kennedy is newly promoted to account manager. Two account execs are Samantha Syrett and Daniela Puglia. Dave Watson is regional buying manager and Annie Lavis is regional director. Although everyone has individual responsibilities in terms of clients/agencies, we work as a team.

Who is the biggest character and why?

We would have to share it between Daniela, because she has such a huge personality and an incredibly infectious laugh, and Dave, our resident chocoholic. Hardly a day passes without him buying us treats from the sweet shop. He also gets our vote for caffeine addict - having just weaned himself off copious amounts of coffee, he now binges on Coca-Cola.

What is your office atmosphere like?

Rarely quiet, but that's because the phones never stop. Even when it's manic and we are trying to meet unreasonable deadlines, we always find time for fun and laughter - and with three fashion-conscious young females comparing boyfriends and shopping, it's never dull. At the moment, the boss is keeping us amused with her cycling stories - she's training for a charity cycle ride.

What stands your team apart from the rest of the industry?

The team has a wealth of experience and talent and a great knowledge of our industry. Collectively, we have more than 80 years' experience. The whole team has a really professional approach and takes great pride in its its work. That's probably why we are the number one out of home media agency in the North and still growing.

What does it take to get a job in your team?

Great personality is essential in a small team, together with intelligence and common sense, self-motivation and ambition.

How are staff encouraged to hit targets?

As we are an "ideas" rather than a sales house, we don't have individual targets. The team knows if we work hard and have a successful year, they will be rewarded through salary and a discretionary bonus. They are also rewarded by the odd glass of vino when celebrating a new business win.

Where do you all let your hair down?

Next door at the Slug & Lettuce or Brasserie. Great wine and free entertainment, as it's situated in the land of Footballers' Wives, where they have just filmed the series Goldplated. Look out for us in future episodes.
