Marketing Mix: I’ll name that brand in one!

The founder of the company behind Brand X was born in Chesterfield
in 1818. At the age of 14, he undertook a seven-year apprenticeship in
his chosen trade and within ten years had established a thriving
business.
The company’s biggest success, however, happened by accident in 1899
when a travelling salesman dropped his sample boxes all over a
prospective customer’s shop-floor. As he gathered them together in
panic, the shop owner suggested mixing the products up and selling them
all together.
A huge brand was born - although the little character who still
personifies the brand was not created until 1929, some 30 years before
this pack was on sale. Nowadays, you’ll find him not just on, but also
in, every single pack which features, in total, eight different types of
confectionery.
The brand name reflects the nature of the product - which is, literally,
a very mixed bag. Can you identify it? If so, put your answer on the fax
- 0171-413 4504. If you’re right, you could win a bottle of bubbly.
