CDR to promote benefits of cash
David Quainton, PR Week UK, Wednesday, 15 November 2006, 7:00pm,
A group of money handlers - including Group 4 Securicor, Brink's and Securitas - is to lobby against the predicted 'death of cash'.
The body, European Security Transport Association, has tasked Citigate Dewe Rogerson with promoting the advantages of using cash over electronic payment.
CDR's London office is overseeing eight Citigate offices throughout Europe to deliver the brief.
‘Early research has shown Europeans do not want to ditch cash,' said Citigate MD Deborah Saw, who leads the account. ‘Under-30s particularly feel they can better control expenditure with cash.'
The appointment comes amid increased lobbying from banks and the EC, which are looking to reduce the amount of cash in circulation. Citigate will work alongside research firm TNS.
