Granada Home Technology has decided to exploit TV presenter and
columnist Jeremy Clarkson’s politically incorrect reputation in a new TV
ad which breaks this week. The ad, created by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO,
is part of a pounds 3m pre-Christmas burst to promote Granada’s digital
TV rental service.
Designed to position rental as a low-risk way to access digital
television, Clarkson flirts with two girls and says: ’You know when you
fancy something, but you’re not sure you want to make the commitment?’
GHT’s last ad with Clarkson featured a consumer slapping his own face
with a fish because he had invested in obsolete technology.
