Ex-PRWeek journo misses FD windfall
PR Week UK, Friday, 15 September 2006, 12:00am,
As news broke this Monday of Financial Dynamics' acquisition by US firm FTI Consulting, few City watchers were sporting broader smiles than ex-PRWeek senior reporter Tom Williams.
Williams - who joined Travel Trade Gazette earlier this year after a couple of years specialising in breaking City PR news - recalls a conversation with Financial Dynamics CEO Charles Watson just before he left us. The newly enriched FD chief promised Williams £1,000 if his agency was sold within a year.
Diary thus called Watson to ask whether a cheque would be winging its way to our former colleague. The PR man could only chuckle: 'Er, I'll get back to you on that one ...'
We, of course, got straight on the phone to Williams, who could only mutter: 'I knew I should have got that in writing.'
