Christy Turlington in Government's anti-smoking campaign
Marketing, Thursday, 07 December 2000, 12:00am,
Calvin Klein model Christy Turlington is starring in the government's latest anti-smoking campaign - in the same week that a tobacco advertising ban is expected to take its next step toward becoming reality. Turlington's appearance in the Department of Health push, created by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, will include a TV ad alongside former EastEnders star Troy Titus Adams. The ad breaks on December 30. Viewers will be encouraged to call the NHS Smoking Helpline. Today's Queen's Speech (Wednesday) is expected to include provision for a tobacco advertising ban, following the abandonment of Europe-wide legislation in October due to legal technicalities.
