The publisher has teamed up with an as-yet unnamed media partner to develop the website, which will provide daily film, TV and music news, reviews and listings, promising some interactive elements for visitors such as chat rooms.
It is currently recruiting nine editorial staff, including a dedicated editor-in-chief and movie and music editors, but is understood to be using its existing commercial team to sell ads on the site.
Many of Future’s entertainment magazines have their own websites, including film monthly Total Film, which carries daily movie news, and rock music magazine Metal Hammer, but the site will be its first entertainment-based site not directly aligned to a printed title.
It currently operates several standalone games websites, including www.cheatplanet.com and www.computerandvideogames.com. Future’s next magazine launch will be a consumer technology title covering computing and IT, consumer electronics and science.
