Edelman creates US-based new-media practice

NEW YORK/CHICAGO: Edelman has set up a global division through which to channel its new-media investment.
Me2 Revolution is being overseen by Chicago-based Rick Murray as president. Previously general manager of diversified services, he reports to CEO Richard Edelman.
Murray said Me2 Revolution would focus on citizen journalism; channels such as blogs, podcasts and RSS; social networks such as MySpace; user-generated content hubs such as YouTube; and mobile media.
Edelman said the practice's main task would be to 'help clients more effectively engage audiences' through new-media methods, platforms, and channels.
Murray's team will include blogger and Edelman senior vice-president Steve Rubel – who will focus on product and partnership development and new business – and Ming Yee, SV-P and technology director.
They are both located in New York, but the team will also include two Sweden-based staff.
