MARKETING MIX: A calendar well past its sell-by date

It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words and with regards to the 1980 Findus Calendar, the editorial team at Marketing has to agree.
It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words and with
regards to the 1980 Findus Calendar, the editorial team at Marketing has
to agree.
A masterpiece of its era, the Findus Calendar is proof, if any were
needed, that bare breasts and meat pies do not mix.
However, the 18-year interlude between its production and the present
day have enabled those responsible to cover their tracks well. Although
the design and art direction are attributed to a J.A. Lamprell at
Findus, no one knows who he was.
At Findus’ ad agency of the time, J Walter Thompson, memories are also
shaky: ’It’s ringing a few bells, I think they were hot properties at
the time,’ says WPP director Jeremy Bullmore.
Mix has secured a number of copies of the calendar - our highlights are
printed above - and is offering them to any reader who can produce
examples of tacky marketing to match this.
