Hit or miss ... FA woos the Daily Mail

PR Week UK, Friday, 09 December 2005, 12:00am,

The Football Association's strategy to 'cultivate relationships' with the nationals bore spectacular fruit last Friday.

The Daily Mail, often seen as hostile to the FA, was given access 'behind closed doors' and produced a three-page feature eulogising the FA's contribution to the game and the much-criticised Wembley Stadium rebuild. FA comms director Adrian Bevington says the piece resulted from a lunch between himself, CEO Brian Barwick and the Mail.

Mail sports editor Lee Clayton says: 'It was essential they gave us access all areas - and they did.'
