Google to beef up Euro comms team
PR Week UK, Thursday, 08 December 2005, 12:00am,
Google is to treble the size of its European PR presence in 2006 to facilitate growth.
The fast-growing media brand plans to expand its comms team from five PROs to 15 and is searching for senior executives in Spain, Germany, France and the Netherlands.
New director of European comms and public affairs Rachel Whetstone will oversee the appointments, although some decisions may be made by Google's head office in California.
'The surfing habits and foibles of users vary greatly across Europe,' said Whetstone. 'Google is expanding into different arenas and if it is to remain as successful and popular as it has been it must understand local markets.'
