Insurance company Swinton has launched its first ever web site,

with a section enabling applicants to register details of their house

contents room by room.

The service is designed to make it easier for visitors to assess the

amount of cover they need, and easier to claim in the event of a

burglary.

Potential customers are prompted to register for a personalised ’My

Swinton’ section, where they are asked to register property according to

its make, model and serial number. They then give an approximate value

for the property in each room.

The site also features an online magazine-style section dubbed ’Focus’,

covering issues such as the impact of the Millennium Bug on insurance,

travel insurance and how to make a claim.

Swinton’s site was designed by Leeds-based web house Port 80. The budget

was not disclosed.

’The site is designed to make sure people know what they’re looking for;

there’s a lot of generic information available,’ said Jason Finch,

commercial director, Port 80.

Swinton’s web address is www.swinton.co.uk.
