Half of all homes to be digital by end 2003, ITC says
Over 11 million homes in the UK are now multi-channel, and the number of homes with access to multi-channel TV grew by 2.8 per cent in the third quarter of the year, according to the latest figures from the Independent Television Commission.
Most of the growth was driven the digital satellite operator Sky, which increase it own household base by 3.3 per cent.
Cable didn't enjoy such a prosperous period - NTL and Telewest experienced a 2 per cent drop in subscribers - the fourth consecutive quarter in which the broadcasters have reported losses.
But if the rate of growth continues, half of all UK homes could have multi-channel television next year.
