Bates Interactive chose War Child UK as its charity for 1999, an annual commitment which began in 1997 when the agency gave its services free to Amnesty International's Refuge campaign.

In its six-year history, War Child has helped children and families in troublespots all over the world, including Croatia, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Kosovo.

Located at www.warchild.co.uk, the site reflects War Child's global brief through visual imagery as well as words, with the top half of the screen showing visual references to the context of war and the lower half featuring stories and information about War Child's work and where its money goes.

There are also three animated case histories reflecting the different types of help the charity provides and the sort of people who give to War Child.
