- The Department of Culture Media and Sport has appointed the London-based digital consultancy, DNA to create a portal website to provide access to information about cultural and sporting activities in the UK.
The department, which is headed by Chris Smith MP, is responsible for government policy on the arts, sport and recreation, the National Lottery, libraries, museums and galleries, broadcasting, film, press freedom and regulation, the built heritage, the royal estate and tourism.
The portal will provide information about the workings, role and structure of the department and give an overview of Britain's cultural assets, whilst providing a route to more specific information by linking to relevant sites.
Graham Newsom, head of communications at DCMS, said: "We see this initiative as crucial in delivering our overall aim of improving the quality of life for all through cultural and sporting activities, and strengthening the creative industries."
