Well-dressed pets could become commonplace following Saatchi &
Saatchi’s appointment to the pounds 15 million Pet’s Pyjamas
account.
Pet’s Pyjamas is Europe’s first home-shopping company for animal lovers,
offering items from clothes, food and accessories to insurance.
The agency has been briefed to produce a brand-building campaign
spanning the UK, France, Germany and Scandinavia. It aims to promote the
company’s mail order, e-commerce and interactive TV business, the latter
of which will launch next year following discussions with several media
partners.
Saatchis presented work along with two other agencies and was appointed
this week. Its first work, which encompasses TV, press and posters as
well as online advertising, through Saatchi Vision, breaks in
January.
Charles Fallon, founder and managing director of Pet’s Pyjamas and a
former Saatchis account director, said: ’Saatchis’ pan-European
credentials impressed me, along with its ability to assemble a dedicated
team that understands the complexities of co-ordinating an international
campaign.
’Pet’s Pyjamas has moved quickly from start-up to market bench-mark and
I am confident that the team there can keep up with us as we continue to
evolve.’
The company was established in January 1998 as a catalogue operation and
expanded on to the internet in May that year. Direct mail and a test TV
ad have been handled by Geoff Cotton Partnership, which continues to
handle the direct marketing.
Derek Bowden, chief executive of Saatchis in Europe, said: ’We’re keen
to expand our expertise in this area and it’s good that we’re working
with a company that’s already established and with a guy we already
know.’
