Punjana, Northern Ireland’s top tea brand, is trawling London for an agency, with plans for an advertising push into the mainland tea market.
The tea brand is already a big seller in Scotland, where it has run TV
campaigns through Hay Smith Advertising.
The marketing director of Punjana, Lindsay Skinner, confirmed that the
company was in the middle of searching for an agency.
Punjana, which has a history of investing in promotions, is a household
name in Northern Ireland, where it has used TV advertising since
commercial television began.
The family-owned outfit is based in Belfast, and is currently run by two
cousins - Ross and David Thompson.
The brand is available in major supermarkets across the United Kingdom,
but until now has received no above-the-line advertising support outside
its core markets.
Punjana, positioned as a mass-market brand, will compete against tea
giants such as Tetley and PG Tips.
