CIA UK woos Carat’s Powley for top role in expansion drive

CIA UK has poached the second-in-command at the rival media buyer, Carat UK, to spearhead an aggressive expansion drive.

Roger Powley, the Carat deputy managing director and group finance
director, will take up the new position of managing director of CIA UK,
which has total billings of pounds 545 million, according to AC Nielsen
MEAL, making it one of the three largest media buying groups in the
UK.
Mike Elms, the chief executive of CIA UK, said: ’Roger is one of the
best business brains in the media industry.’
The CIA Group comprises all of CIA’s UK interests, including CIA
Medianetwork UK, the Negotiation Centre, CDP Media, IDK, BJK&E, Media
Solutions, Morgan CIA, CIA-Conzept, CIA Interactive and Outdoor
Focus.
Elms said that CIA is planning to expand the volume and scope of its UK
business, capitalising on the consolidation in the media planning and
buying arenas.
