BUSINESS PERFORMANCE LEAGUE - 16 JUNE 1997
Claire Beale, Campaign, Friday, 20 June 1997, 12:00am,
This must be the quietest fallow period for new business the advertising industry has ever known. Whatever happened to the bottleneck allegedly created by the general election? Are you lot all winning loads of accounts and just not telling us about them, or what?
This must be the quietest fallow period for new business the
advertising industry has ever known. Whatever happened to the bottleneck
allegedly created by the general election? Are you lot all winning loads
of accounts and just not telling us about them, or what?
For the record, the only full-service win recorded in the hallowed pages
of Campaign last week was the Union’s pounds 500,000 capture of Scottish
Pride.
Unfortunately, this is not enough to gain the agency a foothold on the
new-business table. However, one agency that is back in the top 30 this
week is the HHCL Brasserie - four weeks and 40 phone calls after picking
up the pounds 1 million Paxo Partners business. You got there in the
end, Mischa.
The only other movement was prompted by the processing of Saatchi and
Saatchi’s pounds 1.8 million Playtex loss.
We’re a little over half way through the year now, and still that
massive pounds 32 million Abbey National win in February is keeping Euro
RSCG Wnek Gosper way out in front. Either it’s got to lose something big
or someone else will have to win a big account if we’re to have a
thrilling fight to the finish.
So, once again, I implore you new-business directors to get on with
winning some new business.
