Barraclough Hall Woolston Gray has won the1996 Direct Agency of the Year prize in the inaugural Campaign Direct Awards, produced in association with the Royal Mail.

association with the Royal Mail.
BHWG, which is wholly owned by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, fought off
stiff competition from Ogilvy and Mather Direct and Craik Jones Watson
Mitchell Voelkel to clinch the prize.
BHWG won thanks to its impressive growth, strong creative work and a
pounds 20 million new-business record that included wins from the
Prudential, Cow and Gate, Tambrands and Reader’s Digest.
Elsewhere, the Army recruitment campaign through Saatchi and Saatchi was
voted Direct Campaign of the Year from a shortlist that recognised the
merits of Daewoo, Channel 5 and First Direct.
The Army has picked up a number of industry prizes, including a Campaign
Poster award, an IPC Recruitment Advertising award and a Direct
Marketing Association award.
Patrick Farrell, marketing director at Daewoo Cars, was voted Direct
Client of the Year for launching the company as a customer-focused car
manufacturer through a fully integrated campaign.
