Kids’ charity bids to raise UK profile
Donna Werbner, PR Week UK, Friday, 10 December 2004, 12:00am,
Children’s charity the Esther Benjamins Trust is on the hunt for a PR agency to raise its profile with City executives and young, fashionable celebrity role models.
The charity wants to raise awareness about its work with Nepalese children who have been trafficked to Indian circuses to act as performers, often suffering physical, mental and sexual abuse.
It is hoping to attract support for its Circus Children Project from ‘high-flyers’ and ‘young entrepreneurs’ in a bid to become a ‘household name with an income and a capacity to match’.
‘The project has received prominent coverage in Indian, Nepalese and international newspapers but, frustratingly, not in the UK press,’ said Philip Holmes, who founded the Esther Benjamins Trust in 1999 in memory of his wife.
The successful PR agency will be expected to work on a pro-bono basis.
